Artist Bios

Paul Shaffer

For 33 years Paul Shaffer served as David Letterman’s musical director and sidekickPaul began his career in 1972 as musical director of the Toronto production of “Godspell.” He  played piano in “The Magic Show” on Broadway in 1974, then spent the next five years with the  original “Saturday Night Live,” where he played keyboards, composed special musical material and, in 1980, became a featured performer. 

In 1977, he took a brief break from the show to star in the CBS comedy series “A Year at the  Top,” produced by Norman Lear and Don Kirshner. After his return to “Saturday Night Live,” he  collaborated with Gilda Radner on the songs for her Broadway show, in which he also appeared. He  served as musical director for the Blues Brothers – John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd – for their triple platinum album and national tour. His guest starring television appearances include “Ed”, “The  Sopranos”, “Law & Order: Criminal Intent”, “Schitt’s Creek” and “How I Met Your Mother”. Paul  starred with Bill Murray in and was musical director for the Netflix special “A Very Murray Christmas”, directed by Sofia Coppola, for which he received his fourth EMMY® nomination. Over the past several  years he performed a series of “mini-residencies” at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas at the iconic  Cleopatra’s Barge. He has performed with the Kalamazoo Symphony and the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra, as well as appearances with the Long Beach, Vancouver,and  Winnipeg symphonies.. 

In addition to recording his own albums, Coast to Coast (1989) and The World’s Most  Dangerous Party (1993), Shaffer has recorded with such diverse artists as Diana Ross, Yoko Ono, and  Robert Plant’s Honeydrippers. He composed the LATE SHOW theme song and, with Paul Jabara, wrote  the Number One global ’80s dance hit “It’s Raining Men,” performed by the Weather Girls and re-recorded by Geri Halliwell for the “Bridget Jones’s Diary” soundtrack, topping the British pop charts in  2001. In 2002, he received his first GRAMMY®, Best Country Instrumental, for the Earl Scruggs and  Friends album, and co-produced an avant-garde jazz album for his mentor, Tsziji Munoz. His latest  album, Paul Shaffer & The World’s Most Dangerous Band, features such diverse guest vocalists as Valerie Simpson, Darius Rucker, Jenny Lewis, Dion, Shaggy, and Bill Murray.  

His feature film roles include Artie Fufkin in Rob Reiner’s “This Is Spinal Tap.” He also appeared in the Mike Nichols-directed “Gilda Live,” the Bill Murray movie “Scrooged,” and with John  Travolta in “Look Who’s Talking Too.” He is heard as the voice of Hermes in Disney’s animated feature  “Hercules” and the television series based on the film. He produced the gold-selling soundtrack for and  appeared in “Blues Brothers 2000”, and composed original songs for the movie “Strangers with Candy.” He composed the theme songs for David Letterman’s Netflix series, and produced the music for Sofia  Coppola’s 2020 film “On The Rocks” starring Bill Murray. 

Shaffer led the band for the “We Are the World” finale of Live Aid. Shaffer hosted CBS’s 1994  New Year’s Eve special from New York’s Times Square and was musical director of the closing  concert at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games. He appeared with the Blues Brothers at the 1996  Super Bowl halftime show and was musical director of the 1999 Concert of the Century at the White House, featuring Eric Clapton, B. B. King, Gloria Estefan, ‘N Sync and others, to aid  music programs in public schools. He was Paul McCartney’s musical director for “Concert for  New York” and appeared with Faith Hill on the “America: A Tribute to Heroes” telethon, both of  which honored and raised money for victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Paul served  as Musical Director for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for its first 35 years. 

“Paul Shaffer’s This Day in Rock,” is a daily interstitial feature nationally syndicated by Envision Radio. Paul’s best-selling memoir, We’ll Be Here  For The Rest of Our Lives, is published by Random House. His recent television series, “Paul Shaffer Plus  One”, on AXS-TV with guests including Joe Walsh, Donald Fagen, Graham Nash, Buddy Guy, and Smokey Robinson the extended radio version aired on SiriusXM. And he  appeared as “Skeleton” on the second season of The Masked Singer. 

Shaffer holds two honorary doctorate degrees, was inducted into the National Black Sports and Entertainment Hall of Fame, and awarded a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame. In 2008, Paul received the  Order of Canada, Canada’s highest civilian honor.

Joe Caro

Joe Caro is a guitarist, producer ,composer and singer born and raised in New York City. Early influences included the British Invasion and blues and jazz. At a young age, he started working in the  recording studios in NYC and touring  the US, Japan and Europe. He has recorded with  Bette Midler, Blue Öyster Cult, Carly Simon,  Michael Franks, Bobby McFerrin, Gato Barbieri, Michael McDonald, Fania Allstars, Chaka Khan,  Randy Brecker to name a few, toured  with Dr. John,  Carly Simon /James Taylor,  Michael Franks, appeared live  or on TV with Jon Bongovi, Clint Black, Joan Osborne, Sinead O’Connor, Pat Metheny, The Blues Brothers, Roberta Flack,The Eagles,  Olivia Newton-John, Aretha Franklin,  Luther Vandross, Dave Mason, Steven Tyler, Jonny Lang and many more as well as  the house bands of The Late Show with David Letterman, Saturday Night Live, The Grammys and countless  TV Commercials and Movies. Besides his current work  with Paul Shaffer, a friend for many years, he’s is also currently  musical director for Mick Fleetwood’s  “House of Rumors” band. He has released three recordings of his own, “Home Alone”,”Live in New York City” and “Every Dog Has His Day” on Innsbruck records and currently lives  on the island of Maui.

Francisco Centeno

Francisco Centeno is an internationally renowned Recording Studio electric bassist popularly known for his innovative styles and proficiency within a wide range of musical genres. Considered a prodigy in the recording industry Francisco was discovered by the Motown songwriting team Ashford and Simpson and began recording on their various productions for Motown at the age of fifteen. Twice nominated for the NARAS MVP Award Francisco’s unique styles can be heard on several hundred albums ranging from Funk, R&B, Latin, Jazz and Pop, Broadway musicals and Movie soundtracks. Clint de Ganon

Drummer Clint de Ganon is from Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.  He recently recorded with the NY Philharmonic for Steven Spielberg’s remake of West Side Story.  His list of diverse credits includes Stevie Wonder, Elvis Costello, Renée Fleming, Jimmy Buffet, Liza Minnelli, & Carole King.  He held the chair for no fewer than 12 Broadway shows, including the Grammy/Tony Award-winning “Beautiful” & “Hairspray.”  Clint regularly records for the hit tv series, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”. Clint’s always thrilled to work with Paul Shaffer in any setting, & has been looking forward to this performance.

Kristin Pagent

Kristin Pagent is a native of Wheaton Illinois and got her degree in opera performance/music theater from Northwestern University. She joined the United States Navy Band Washington DC in the year 2000 and sang in the sea chanters chorus for 17 years. She has been on 15 national tours, and sung in every state except Alaska. Kristin has sung with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago, Symphony Orchestra, the Wheaton municipal band, The Cincinnati Pops, the Boston Pops, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, the Annapolis chamber Orchestra, and the United States Navy Band. She has sung for many presidents, vice presidents, and other high-ranking officials in Washington DC. She sang in the choruses for the funerals of President Reagan, President Ford, and Neil Armstrong. Kristin has been a member of the Annapolis Chorale since 2014.

Ella Green

Born and raised in Severna Park, MD, Ella Green has been a performer from a very young age. Ella graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre. Some of Ella’s recent productions include Daddy Long Legs (Jerusha Abbott), Matilda (Miss Honey), Brightstar (Alice Murphy), Guys and Dolls (Sarah Brown), Little Women (Marmee), and Godspell (female Swing). Ella’s Symphony Pops/Concert credits include Marvin’s Music (Caroga Lake Music Festival, featured vocalist), Celebration of Christmas (Live Arts Maryland and the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra, featured vocalist), Bernard Dotson’s “Unexpected Songs” (featured vocalist).
